Doula on Demand * Virtual Doula Services

The Virtual Doula package is with an experienced labor doula that has completed between 10 to 30 births.  They have experience delivering at several Washington DC area hospitals and have supported mostly low-risk expecting moms. The doula will provide three prenatal visits to discuss your birth desires and create a birth plan.  Classes are encouraged to complete Childbirth 1 2 3 class to compliment the Virtual Doula Services.

The doulas supporting your Personalized Doula Service Package have completed 31+ births, with experience delivering at several key hospitals in the Washington DC area. These are skilled doulas that work as a team and collectively offer experience with VBACs, Mothers of Multiples, IVF, and high-risk pregnancy clients. You, as our client, will be assigned to a particular doula for all your services (including prenatal and postpartum visits). Another doula from this team will be assigned as a Back-up.

The doulas supporting your Team Doula Service Package have completed between 10 – 30 births and have either completed or are working to complete their Doula Certification. They have experience delivering at several Washington DC area hospitals and have supported mostly low-risk expecting moms. You, as our client, are encouraged to attend our Meet the Doulas to be introduced to all team members. Next, the client is assigned to a team member based on their availability and the client’s due date.

Student doulas have attended less than 10 births and are working to attain their Labor Doula Certification. These doulas have attended Momease Childbirth classes, read several pregnancy-related books and written reviews on their birth experiences. As a part of their training, they have shadowed 2 to 3 births with a Senior Doula to enhance their birthing knowledge. You, as our client, are assigned a student doula as your primary doula. Our other student doulas may relieve the primary after 24-hours of labor support.

Sibling Doulas are experienced birth or postpartum doulas who support young children, during or after a client has given birth. Sibling Doulas provide a prenatal planning appointment to help prepare for the baby’s arrival and ease siblings into transitioning in a new family member. A postpartum play class is also scheduled with sibling(s) during the baby’s first few days at home. Sibling doulas may be on call to support children during a client’s labor at home or in the hospital.

The doula will provide the new Mom with some much-needed self-care. With the assistance of her doula, Mom will learn common methods for caring for the perineal area or C-section scar, as well as learning to cope with breast discomfort associated with nursing and increased milk supply. Your doula will assess you for signs of postpartum depression and will recommend local services and resources that will ease your transition to parenthood.

In the first Prenatal visit, the Labor Doula speaks with the mother-to-be (Client) and her husband/partner before birth to take a medical history. She will discuss birth preferences and priorities, and fears and concerns. The goal of the Conference Call is to develop a birth plan that is best for the mother and baby.
